So, I guess you could say I'm new to bowhunting.  Yes, I've done it the past two seasons, with close calls, but no success.  I just wanted to start this topic so that bowhunters can share their tips and tactics (along with some advice) with other bowhunters.

Play the wind, plan the hunt from beginning to finish, and keep movements slow and sparse. Also, avoid over hunting stands at food plot locations...deer pick up on those stands QUICK!

Ok, I'll offer my two cents on the topic. As said, keep movement slow, especially when ground hunting. Also, keep your eyes out for any movement. I have learned that deer can pop out of nowhere.

Make sure u pack your binos in your pack!!! also a spare release keeping movement slow and to a minimum is important as well as playing the wind.... dont be afraid to hunt in the rain!

Same here! It's a tough way to learn, but often necessary.

Yep, I've hunted in the rain not always fun.  Great tip about binoculars.  I haven't ever really carried any with me, because mine are big.  And because I hunt a clearcut, and a small amount of woods (4-5 acres?).  Keep it coming!

I got my first bow kill! I did not find the doe I shot however, but I nailed it. My shot was a little behind as I was shaking from "They might run at any moment! Shoot!" and that I was not expecting them as I walked by my grandparent back yard

Sorry to hear you didn't make the recovery. Bow hunting requires a new level of patience and discipline so keep practicing! Good luck!
