Ian Eckerstorfer

Founder of Suburban Standout Outdoors. Ian is from Franklin, Wisconsin (Go Sabers). He is currently a senior at Marquette University studying Clinical Laboratory Science. Ians passion as long as he can remember has been whitetail deer.

Joe Zalar

Co-founder and head of Marketing and Advertising at Suburban Standout Outdoors. Joe is the best hunting bud a guy could ask for. Joe works part time as a truck driver in his home town of South Milwaukee. He is also one heck of a cameraman!

 

Clint Birtzer

Editor and field tester.  Clint is a full time student at Inver Hills Community College and he also has quite the music career. Clint was named the 2011 Minnesota Flat Picking Guitar State Champion! Don’t be fooled though this boy can hunt as well!

My First Wisconsin Buck

To begin telling the saga of my 2012 Wisconsin buck I have to go back a ways. In July of this past year my band traveled to the small town of Viroqua Minnesota to play a music festival at the town’s county fairgrounds. It was at this festival that my band’s Emcee mentioned from on stage that I am an avid hunter with a passion for the type of country we were in at that time. As we were shootin’ the breeze with fans after our set an older gentlemen approached me and started talking to me about hunting.

Going into the 2012 season I have to admit I was not nearly as prepared as I have been in years past. Moving from Suburban Milwaukee down to Kenosha had really ruined my preseason shooting rituals and routines. Graduating from Marquette, moving out into the real world, and starting my career as a Clinical laboratory scientist seemed to overshadow my usual focus on the upcoming season. I had run trail cameras all summer and had a pretty solid pattern down thanks to the mapping software here on Big Game Logic, but my form was average at best heading into the final week before season.
